I always wanted to know which drugs are equivalent to the ones served
at the Korova milk bar....I think that Drencrom is probably some kind
of speed, because it "sharpens you up", but I don't know about the
other two. What are the effects of Vellocet and Synthemesc? Does the
book explain these effects?

I don't have it with me, I left it at my parents home, thousands of
miles away. Could you please share your knowledge with me? This way I
won't need to buy another book.

I doubt that he will. It gets to be a matter of control: conTROLLing
other people. Communication and control - cybernetics. And game
playing. The essense of Life. And JOOTSing - refusing to be trapped.
Have a nice day.

Read the book and find out.
Without looking I do believe Alex describes the effect of drinking one
of those as "spending an hour admiring Bog and all the angels in heaven
in your toenail", but that "wasn't what we were looking for"; in the book
they were not drinking any of those three, but some unnamed "milk with
knives in it, which would sharpen you up, and make you ready for a bit
of the old ultra-violent". Kubrick shortened up the narration there and
throughout the movie, and in doing so in this case changed the
COMPLETELY unimportant "detail" of exactly what they
were drinking.

The names are interesting though. "Drencom" is clearly supposed to
be "adrenochrome", which is naturally-occurring metabolite of adrenaline;
high levels of adrenochrome are thought to lead to psychotic breaks,
with hallucinations, paranoia, and agitated irrational behavior.
"Synthemesc" is obviously "synthetic mescaline", so would ostensibly
have similar "psychedelic" effects as that effective ingredient from
the peyote cactus. And "vellocet", from the Latin, is simply just
plain old "speed", some analog to methamphetamine.
